The inspiration for this Trapunto Art Glass came from the magical sunsets with their swift transition of colors and the serene moment as the sun dips below the horizon. The warm hues of the setting sun blending seamlessly into the cool blues of the evening sky and the gentle movement of the waves.

Exhibition Comments: Because of the beautiful harmony between colours of its red frame, wooden border and mixture of blue, red and yellow and white of the glass parts inside the frame. I feel magnificence and glory as if I am looking at sunset beside the sea. I like this the best as it reminds me of reflections in the sea. It brings back many happy memories as I am a sailor and derive great pleasure from watching water especially as the sun goes down. This image appealed to me more than the all blue artwork as it reminds me of one of my most joyous experiences - that of standing in the ocean while looking at the sun being swallowed up by the huge expanse of water in front of me. When looking at the artwork I feel it is full of a violent drama. It is much more passionate and darker in its nature than most representations of a sunset that I have seen or imagined. It seems to point to the essence of power that we cannot capture or contain but merely look at in wonder. There is a balance between heat and cold, ying and yang. The sun rises, or sets, over the sea. There is much to hope for, or for which to give thanks.
Trapunto Art Glass uses the secretly guarded processes used by the Mesopotamians (1650BC.) to make glass vessels which contained expensive perfumes for the courts of the rich and powerful, and also for use in religious ceremonies. Each piece of Trapunto Art Glass can take up to 3 months to complete and involves over 50 separate processes and is made to the highest quality standards often using precise hand dyed colour silks to create the experience. Inserted in each piece of Trapunto Art Glass is a hand stamped copper token indicating its uniqueness, providence and safeguarding investment.
