The Andromeda Gardens was a wonderful source of inspiration nestled in the lush beauty of Barbados, the gardens offer a rich tapestry of vibrant flora, tranquil ponds, and meandering pathways. The diverse plants and serene ambiance sparked my creativity. The vibrant colors of the tropical flowers, the intricate patterns of the foliage and the peaceful water features.
I like them all so much. This one I was drawn to first in the room. Love the colours. So vibrant and eye catching. It reminds me of the Caribbean with all the fancy fabrics and flowers that are in their hair. Is that bananas I see? It’s good because you don’t notice some things until you get up really close and look. I mean I didn’t see that bird there until now. I really like the frame as well. Works perfectly with the colours in the glass. Also the fabrics, you can tell you have spent ages dying them and sorting out what colours work and what don’t because the result is this amazing mixture and blends of colour. You certainly have a knack for colour mixing. It makes me feel happy and joyous. I just want to touch it. I like the sparkle of the metallic threads and all the small bits in it as well. Don’t think its hard because of the lights. The lights make it soft. I know my answer straight away. It’s this one. I noticed it as soon as I came in. The shuttle houses and the stamp that you have put in here makes it so individual. Makes you think of Barbados really. The colours are fantastic. And it does with all the flowers in it transports me back there. So that question was easy. Yeah yes, transports me straight back to Barbados, just the colours and that more than anything else. Because you can see all the individual things in it. I mean you have obviously thought very carefully about each single subject that you have put in there down to the chickens to the you know flowers. It’s fantastic, unbelievable. Oh I just want to go on holiday back there. I want to get on a flight tomorrow. Obviously it makes me feel really happy because of the colours more than anything else but it does it just makes me want to go back to Barbados. I would say softness actually. I think it’s the softness because of the waves that you have in there more than anything else.
Trapunto Art Glass uses the secretly guarded processes used by the Mesopotamians (1650BC.) to make glass vessels which contained expensive perfumes for the courts of the rich and powerful, and also for use in religious ceremonies. It is said to have mystical qualities and when combined with the Trapunto textile manipulation technique used in Medieval Times (1450AD.) an art form like no other is produced - ones which cannot be copied, or mass produced.
Exhibition comments show that Trapunto Art Glass results in a very special personal experience often referred to as spiritual, tranquil or nostalgic thus relaxing the viewer and stimulating the imagination. Each piece of Trapunto Art Glass can take up to 3 months to complete and involves over 50 separate processes and is made to the highest quality standards often using precise hand dyed colour silks to create the experience.
