The main inspiration for this piece came from Michael Adams' 1993 painting, Anse Aux Poules Bleus Hoareaus. Adams beautifully captures the spirit of the dense rainforests of the Seychelles, accentuating certain shapes with gold leaf.
Summary of comments when this piece was exhibited. The gold one stands out to me as well. It's not overly busy, and the shapes along with the glittery gold in the background are simply beautiful. The colors and the figures in the background really pop, almost evoking the feeling of peering through a forest to see what's beyond. The use of gold in the background is unique, and the shapes are quite prominent. It's different, which makes it intriguing. The colors remind me of sand, giving it an Egyptian-like feel. Plus, the frame adds a touch that evokes happy memories. There's a vibrant, mysterious quality to it, almost animated in a way. It's truly a captivating piece.
Trapunto Art Glass uses the secretly guarded processes used by the Mesopotamians (1650BC.) to make glass vessels which contained expensive perfumes for the courts of the rich and powerful, and also for use in religious ceremonies. Each piece of Trapunto Art Glass can take up to 3 months to complete and involves over 50 separate processes and is made to the highest quality standards often using precise hand dyed colour silks to create the experience. Inserted in each piece of Trapunto Art Glass is a hand stamped copper token indicating its uniqueness, providence and safeguarding investment.
