Inspiration: I wanted to produce a Trapunto Art Glass piece that embodied the essence of the Indian Ocean around the island of Mahe. The main inspiration for the experiment came from a painting by Michael Adams titled "Northolme," which beautifully captured the serene blue hues and gentle waves of the Indian Ocean surrounding the Seychelles. This inspiration guided the creation of a piece that truly reflects the captivating beauty of the oceanic landscape.

Summary of comments when this piece was exhibited. The shapes in this one remind me of dolphins and waves, and the colours are fantastic. The blues and shapes of the glass create a beautiful depiction of waves, reminiscent of the sea. I love how the colours transition from dark to light, drawing me in and making me feel like I'm descending into the depths of the ocean. This piece captures the essence of the sea, much like the serene waters of the Maldives or the vibrant hues of the ocean in Australia. The tactile nature of the glass and textiles adds another layer of intrigue and engagement, making me want to reach out and touch it. The simple yet captivating design evokes a sense of calm and movement, bringing forth a glimpse into the emotions and experiences inspired by the sea. This artwork has an almost magical ability to make me feel accomplished and at peace. The use of various materials, like the bits of textiles, adds a unique touch and brilliantly conveys the feeling of being near the ocean. It's a truly mesmerising and beautiful piece, invoking a longing for a holiday by the sea.
